Setup Files are Corrupt

Postby fansoftmedia » Sun Jan 27, 2008 9:47 am

If something goes wrong while installing FanDraft, you might get this oddly vague error message: “The setup files are corrupted. Please obtain a new copy of the program.“

This happens with many downloadable files, as it is a problem with Internet Explorer, and not FanDraFT.

No matter how many times you try to “obtain a new copy of the program” — by clicking Download, and then clicking the Run button… You get this same error…

The Cause: Internet Explorer has cached (stored for quicker access) a copy of this file (FanDraft_XXX.exe) on your computer already… And that copy is corrupt.

The Solution: Inside Internet Explorer, simply click on Tools, then Internet Options, then under Temporary Internet Files, click Delete Files…

I am still getting this message when trying to download the update for 8.08, despite uninstalling v.8.02 and attempting to re-download a new copy. I have tried downloading it in internet explorer and in Firefox. I have cleared the cache/history/temp files over and over and still get this message both before and after downloading 8.08.

RESOLVED- Re: Setup Files are Corrupt

The resolution to this problem of "Setup Files are Corrupt" (with all other prior suggestions not working)
was to download from a different physical location. The networks he was using was timing him out.

If you are on a work connection, or other public connection, and having the same problem...you may want to try to change to a new network.

We've been getting more of these, so we thought we'd bump it to the top of the list...
